  • English teacher, Chris Giudice, was named as Parkwood's 2012-2013 Teacher of the Year.  Congratulations, Mr. Giudice!

  • Parkwood's NHS has collected items for and prepared 25 gallon size hygiene bags to send to Haiti through an organization called Convoy of Hope.  Each bag contains toothpaste, a toothbrush, shampoo, a comb, soap and a washcloth.  Members hope that their hygiene bags will help those suffering from the damaging earthquake that occurred there in January.

  • Parkwood's AFJROTC won the following awards at the Union County JROTC Championship Games held at FHHS April 23, 2010: 1st place in the Unarmed Element event, 2nd place in the Armed Element event, 2nd place in the Team Mile Run, Volleyball, and Tug-a-War Sports events. Congratulations, cadets!

First 5k Run/Walk for UCPS teachers huge success

More than 700 runners, walkers, volunteers, and spectators gathered in historic downtown Monroe recently to show their support for Union County teachers. The June 1, 2013, “Running for the U” 5K Run/Walk raised more than $17,000, all of which will go into the classrooms of Union County Public School teachers via mini-grants administered by the Union County Education Foundation. These mini-grants will help teachers purchase items for use in their classrooms.

AFJROTC Travels Back In Time

On April 30th fourteen of Parkwood’s Air Force JROTC cadets traveled to Gastonia to visit the Schiele Museum of Natural History and Planetarium. After lunch they observed commercial airliner takeoffs and landings at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Both stops supplemented the AFJROTC Aerospace Science curriculum at no cost to students.
